After Sunday's thrilling victory over Tampa Bay, Lions WR Mike Furrey had a few choice words for the media.
"The Lions are 4-2, media. Kiss my ass."
And instead of waiting around for an interview, Furrey pulled a move Lions fans have seen too many times before. He ran and hid hoping nobody would see him.
Like the "Cowardly Lion".
See, the Cowardly Lion isnt just a character from the Wizard of Oz, its the Detroit Lions motto when things get tough.
Have a playoff game on the road in Philly?
Cue the Cowardly Lion.
A must-win game at home against a bad team to get into the playoffs on Christmas Eve?
Cue the Cowardly Lion.
Home game against Green Bay in 1994 and up a score late in the 4th?
Cue the Cowardly Lion
4-2 is not a reason to beat your chest and act like Tarzan.
4-2 is not a reason to dump Gatorade on your coach.
4-2 is nothing. Its not even halfway through the season.
Lions fans have seen it before. In fact, not too long ago in 2004, Mooch had this team rolling at 4-2.
And you know what happened, the Cowardly Lion showed his face again. They went 2-8 down the stretch.
Maybe that wont happen this year. Maybe the Cowardly Lion will finally get to the Emerald City and get his badge of courage.
Until then, a small word of advice. '
Just follow the damn yellow brick road and shut your mouth!

but you know what, it was all for nothing...
as long as Matt Millen is the GM, this team wont go anywhere or do anything
