The Coveted West Coast 6th Spot

Let's face it. The Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets (geez that's a type-ful), and Utah Jazz aren't fighting each other for the last two playoff spots. Nope, not one bit. The Hornets and the Jazz are fighting the Kings for the eighth spot while the Lakers should be looking to wrestling that coveted 6th spot away from the Memphis Grizzlies, who by the way have lost two in a row.

Coveted 6th? Hell to the yeah! Who wouldn't want to meet up with the Denver Nuggets in the first round; currently 40-32, a third seed by way of winning their ridiculously weak division. In fact, looking at straight up records, the Nuggets are only two games ahead of the Lakers, and down 0 - 2 head to head against the Lake Show this season.

So as we head down this stretch to mid-April with thoughts of playoff packed arenas dancing in our heads, let's make sure we are looking at what's in front of us and not so much about who's behind us. Plus, Amare Stoudemire or not, I don't think we want to see the Suns in the first round.

Excellent point. It's better to be the #6 than the #5 or even #4.

The Nuggets are going to destroy their first round opponent. Carmelo is having a great year, Camby should be healthier, and K-Mart will play hard. They will give the Spurs and Suns a run for the Western Conference championship

You've got a good point about the #6 seed being a favorable one. However, I have to say that you can throw out the records when you get into the post-season with the Denver Nuggets. I don't care what team you are, nobody wants to go against a George Karl-coached team in the first round. They might not have the best record, but they have a great coach and some awfully scary components that could lead to a surprising run.

ASwaff, very true. But considering the options, I'd take playing the Nuggets over Phoenix, San Antonio, or Dallas.

The Nuggets are on fire, no way anyone should want to play them in the playoffs. They are 1-1 against the best team in the NBA, Detroit, 2-0 against the Heat, who are arguably the second best team in the NBA. 2-2 against the best team in the West, the Spurs, and 1-2, with one loss coming in overtime against Dallas, the 2nd best team in the West. 6-5 against the top 4 teams in the league, not too shabby. And also, all the losses in those games came at the start of the season, when the Nugs were getting killed by injuries to everyone. The nuggets are going to rock whoever they play in the first round, and squeeze by in the second round. I'll take them losing in the Western Finals.

A little late for me to respond now, but the Nuggets were alot better team than they showed in the playoffs. They couldn't make a shot, their chemistry was gone, and this isn't an excuse, but some of the calls were a little biased in the final game(they wouldn't have won anyway, but it would have been alot closer). They should have done better... but then again, I don't even like basketball, hockey is my thing, so maybe i'm completely wrong in every aspect.
