The Courtship of Billy (Belichick)'s Mentor

It seems that a pro football job is just a phone call away for Bill Parcells. As soon as he says that he's not interested in the Atlanta coaching job, he turns around and pulls, what Stu Scott will probably say tonight, The Tampa Bay Okey-Doke. It was first reported that the Big Tuna was leaning towards a VP of Football Ops for the ATL. Within a few hours of that announcement, he spurns the seemingly needy Arthur Blank in a manner similar to Pam Anderson dumping another ex-husband and gets the single win Dolphins to ante up the pot for his services.
But here's one thing - I don't think that anyone should feel sorry for Blank. This "Chicken of the Sea" character that Atlanta was looking to hire is just as much of a flight risk as his last hire as coach. Parcells' job history has shown that he is always had an eye for the next reclamation project or a place where he can become the head chef or claiming burn out as he exits the door. Sure, he's turned the franchise around and got them into the playoffs but he's never won a title with anyone other than the Giants.
And I'm not sure why Parcells is considering any job in Miami when its ownership maybe changing other than the fact that he bridged the change of ownership with the Pats. But then as soon as Bob Kraft restricted his "buying power", he was looking to fly the coop (via Jet plane).
Who knows how Parcells will do, but Miami should be wary. His record with keeping his word (especially with Florida franchises) is very sketchy. And say what you will about Bill Belichick but at least when he says he's going to do something, he'll do it; even if he was the HC of NYJ for one day.
