Oh wait, that’s not the case. Instead, we have another week of no college football because all the players are studying every hour of the day when they’re not at practice. They’re using every minute for schoolwork and are staying away from parties, video games, and girlfriends.
If we had a playoff system, it would start this week. Let’s look at the would-be match-ups according to the SportProjections.com playoff system scenario. Click here to read the breakdown of how these teams were selected for the playoffs.
Saturday, 11 pm ET
#16 BYU at #1 Ohio State – The young BYU offense is clicking and has won 9 straight games. The Cougars go into Columbus to prove the Buckeyes shouldn’t be at the top of the BCS rankings.
#15 Clemson at #2 LSU – This is a first round ACC-SEC battle in Baton Rouge. Les Miles continues to deny any speculation he is going to Michigan by giving his first child to the LSU administration. ESPN reports Miles never cared for the child and may still be considering the Michigan job.
2 pm ET
#14 Illinois at #3 Virginia Tech – The Fighting Illini try to prove the Big Ten is still a formidable conference and upset the Hokies in Blacksburg. Any comments about Michael Vick are banned from the telecast.
#13 Boston College at #4 Oklahoma – The Sooners are ticked they’re the fourth seed after beating up on then #1 Missouri for the second time this season. The Sooners are determined to make it a long day for Matt Ryan in Norman.
5 pm ET
#12 Arizona State at #5 Georgia – The Bulldogs are baffled the Sooners are upset about their ranking. Weren’t the Bulldogs #3 in the country before the last poll? The Sun Devils try to prove the Pac-10 can travel to SEC country and come away with a victory.
#11 Florida at #6 Missouri – Fortunately for the Tigers, college football has a playoff system in place. If not, they would have been #1 in the country the week before, beat Illinois and Kansas during the year, and would not have been invited to the BCS. Oops. Heisman winner Tim Tebow proves he was the better vote over Chase Daniel. It’s a must-see head-to-head QB duel.
8 pm ET
#10 Hawaii at #7 USC – Hawaii finally has a shot to prove it can play with the best of the best in Los Angeles on primetime TV. The Warriors offense tries to move down the field against the tough Trojan defense.
#9 West Virginia at #8 Kansas – The Mountaineers try to put behind their choke job against Pittsburgh and defeat the Jayhawks in Lawrence. The Jayhawks hope to show they’re the Cinderella team in December Madness.
This would be a heck of a weekend for football. Instead, we get to wait until December 20th for our next college football game. Utah vs. Navy. Yippee
