The Best Running Back Ever Tournament

10
Vote

by Agent0

I will keep this short and sweet.  I have looked up on stats for the best runningbacks and I came up with a list of a legitimate thirteen runningbacks.  Now this is going to be runningbacks from the last oh say 40 years mostly.  It includes two current players from the NFL.  Now this is how it will work.  I will give you some matchups and you have 3 days to vote for each matchup.  Winners go on.  Everytime it's time to vote for a new matchup I will post a new article which will also reveal the winner's from the lat matchup's.  I have put a bracket together giving the top 3 seeds byes.  So go and vote now for the matchups that are below the rankings.

  • Players with stars have byes in 1st round

1. Walter Payton* 16,726 yrds & 110 TD

2. Barry Sanders* 15,269 yrds & 99 TD

3. Jim Brown* 12, 312 yrds & 106 TD

4. Emmitt Smith 18,355 yrds & 164 TD

5. Marcus Allen 12,243 yrds & 123 TD

6. Eric Dickerson 13,259 yrds & 96 TD

7. LaDanian Tomlinson 9,176 yrds & 100 TD

8. Franco Harris 12,120 yrds & 100 TD

9. O.J. Simpson 11,126 yrds & 61 TD

10. Shaun Alexander 8,713 yrds & 96 TD

11. Terrell Davis 8,747 yrds & 72 TD

12. Tony Dorsett 12,739 yrds & 77 TD

13. Earl Campbell 9,407 yrds & 74 TD

Now these are the first 2 matchups to vote for

#6 E. Dickerson vs #11 T. Davis

# 7 L. Tomlinson vs #10 S. Alexander

I won't vote for a list that snubbs a HOFer for a non 10k rusher who isn't named LT

You should have had 16 on the list and had a bracket like the NCAA, 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15. Three guys with a bye on a list of 13 is too many. Good idea, though. Dickerson and LT

Where the hell is Thurman Thomas on this list?

Among the league's all-time top 50 Rushes: 11 Rushing yards: 12 Rushing TDs: 29t Yards from scrimmage: 8 Rush/Receive TDs: 29t

2877 carries, 12074 yards, 65 TD 472 receptions, 4458 yards, 23 TD

5 time Pro Bowler, led the league in yards from scrimmage four straight years (89, 90, 91, 92) and finished second in 93. NFL All Decade Team (90s), MVP (91), Offensive POY (91).

Did you throw Terrell Davis in here because of his 2000 yard season or because he has two rings, because he and Alexander do not match up to Thomas.

Sorry, I'm gonna have to abstain from voting from now on after seeing Marshall Faulk isn't on the list. He and Thomas have to be there.
