The Bears Are The Best Team In The NFC

by user Joebook

After watching the Chicago Bears beat the death out of the Seattle Seahawks 37-6 tonight, I've come to the conclusion that the Bears are the best squad in the NFC. They seemed to put it all together tonight, as Rex Grossman threw for 232 yards and two touchdowns, and the running game finally got going with more than 140 yards. This was a huge statement made by one 3-0 team against another.

For the eighth consecutive home regular season game, the Bears gave up fewer than 10 points. That's an incredible streak, but what is more impressive is the fact that the Seahawks are one of the better offensive teams in the NFL. I know that not having Shaun Alexander in the lineup didn't help, but as John Madden said late in the game, "Alexander wouldn't have made a difference tonight."

The Bears are now 4-0, and their next four games are against the Buffalo Bills, Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, and Miami Dolphins. This team could realistically be 8-0 going into a showdown with the New York Giants. With the defensive clicking and the offense finally finding an identity, the Bears are the team to beat in the NFC.

First off, I don't disagree. I thnk anyone so far would pick the Bears as the team to beat so far. That said, it's hard for me to say that this team is superbowl bound yet. They lack that signature win. They need to go on the road against a good team and beat them. They need to play a meaningful game in a playoff race and win it. SO yes, they are likely the best team in the NFC, but they still ahve alot to prove.

Signature win? It's Week 4 for crying out loud. They'll have a few "signature wins" before it's all said and done. BTW, last night's shellacking of last year's Super Bowl team could definitley be considered a "signature Win".

dude... they can only play the teams on their schedule... they can't get a good win in a playoff race until they are in one. They lead the division by 2 games, with a tiebreaker on everyone already.

I never said they haven't beat anyone or anything like that. I simply said I'm waiting for that signature win... Didn't say they won't get it, just waiting to see it. At New England after the Giants and Jets on the road would certainly qualify..

So nobody is Super Bowl bound yet? So far, it looks like the Bears in the NFC and either the Colts or Ravens in AFC. I don't like the Ravens, because I think their offense is subpar.

Agree. In fact, I don't think there is a clear-cut second best team in the NFC - and whoever that may be, they are way behind Chicago. I smell a Super Bowl appearance.

One thing is for certain - they are the best team in the NFC North.

No, I'm saying they are definitely the best team in the NFC North. Without question. That's all they need to make the playoffs, at which point being the best team in the NFC doesn't necessarily mean you'll make the Super Bowl. The best "grinding" team, the best matchplay team makes the Super Bowl, so that is when it really matters. In the Playoffs, there is more pressure, which can hinder a team.

Besides, I'm a Packers fan. You should be grateful I admitted as much as the Bears being the best in the NFC North!

Be grateful that you admitted the Bears are good? You should be grateful that as a packers fan you have a bit of brains.
