The 49ers are Officially a Mess

by SSreporters

So what happened to that guarantee by many experts that the 49ers would overtake the Hawks in the NFC West? Many folks on AGM said the Hawks would finish 2nd or even last according to Donnie35. Both teams were 2-1, headed into their division matchup at Bill Walsh Field at Monster Park in between some Candlesticks. Alex Smith gets pounded immediately, and is out for the game. Seattle sacks backup QB Trent Dilfer 5004 times, and take a 13-0 lead into halftime. The 49ers try the onside kick, recover it, and get intercepted by Marcus Trufant on the very next play. That obviously tells you something about the QB they have in Dilfer. They try and run the ball with Frank Gore, and only get 79 yards on 14 carries (1 lost fumble). Hasselbeck throws a TD to Marcus Pollard for a 20-0 lead. They trade FG's and the game is over.

We witnessed an utter collapse after playing well in the first 2 games. This was supposed to be a close game to determine 1st place in the NFC West. Now we know who is the weaker 2-1 team, because Alex Smith, Vernon Davis, and Manny Lawson aren't the entire team. Because it's not just the fact that Dilfer was at the helm. They were lost on defense, and lost on offense. Even if they were at full strength they would've lost by a similar score. That's how bad they were. Now they are 2-2, facing the Ravens at home, this could be their season right here if they don't beat the now mediocre Ravens.

As for the Hawks, that was what we were waiting for. A dominating game all around, and a great team effort put out there. No one would care anyway, because Seattle has to win 89-3 over the best team in the league (the best team is healthy) to get any notoriety.

They weren't really any better with Alex Smith either. Saw them play (Hey Connor....) in Chicago during preseason.

wait, only 79 yards on 14 carries...that is better than 5.5 a pop...I hardly call that stifling a guy.

As for the Hawks, they are a see saw team, look at the way they lost to the Cardinals. They beat a Tampa Bay team that is rebounding now...they slipped by the Bungles due to Cincinnati's inability to play smart football.

So quit taking the proverbial mick about how the Seahawks get no notoriety. I mean Christ, look at the doormats they play in the coming weeks...home for NO and STL, a bye, then @ CLE, SF again, the struggling Bears at home, @ STL. It is week 12 before they face anyone that may be good and that is Philadelphia.

NO and STL were suposedly good...and so was CHI and STL...amazing how you can say that the hawks will lose because those teams are better, and now they are bad, but the hawks are still pathetic...interesting how that works. And that the 9ers are the team in the NFC West so when they lose it is because they beat themselves...not because the Seahawks are a better team.

The Bears have lost to pathetic teams. The Cowboys have played nothing but bottom Dwellers The Panthers are terrible The Packers are the only team that have exceeded expectations. So how can the Hawks NOT be talked about? The NFC is crap and the Seahawks are in the top 3.

And I am interested in how CLE is a Doormat when they have now beat the Bengals and the Ravens. 2 teams that are seen as playoff teams. interesting.

The Bengals have a great offense and the Seahawks beat them. What you said: "they slipped by the Bungles due to Cincinnati's inability to play smart football" Isn't that part of it? Aren't you supposed to win those games?

"beat a Tampa Bay team that is rebounding now" but they got beat by the Seahawks... And the Cards aren't terrible since they beat everyone's dear Steelers...

I am so tired of everyone talking about the Seahawks that they got lucky. That the other teams "beat themselves". They didn't. Their defense is getting better. They kept the high powered bengals out of the endzone but twice. Pretty good. Lets see how the Pats do with that.

This happened when the seahawks made the super bowl. They are better then you think.

"It is week 12 before they face anyone that may be good and that is Philadelphia." Did you see last nights game? Okay, I don't trust your opninion after you said that...

First, I never said that any of those teams were supposed to be good.

Second, I never projected the 49ers to win the West...show me somewhere that I did.

Third, I am not a Steelers fan...so you can toss the "everyone's dear Steelers" shtick out the window.

I could get a Pop Warner team to score on Cinci's defense. Baltimore has a creaky O line, McNair should be riding a Segway, and they miss Trevor Pryce on D.

I also said it is week 12 before they face anyone who MAY be good. I did not say they Eagles are good, that they will win the East or anything there now did I?

New England @ Dallas, October 21st. As for FOX, they got me upset because they mentioned the knockout punch only 400 times. It's 23-3, that IS a knockout punch. If Trent Dilfer can score 20 unanswered with THAT offense, then that is the story of the year.

Also wrong SS, I am not ticked that the Bills are 1-3. The fact that the team is still playing hard minus half their defensive starters, playing a fifth string OLB they signed off the street, with half their secondary gone, I have no issues with where Buffalo is.

I spent two years in Seattle, and I never heard so much bitching and whining from a bunch of "fans" as I did while I was there. When the Hawks go down the toilet again, how many of you will be there still rooting, and how many of you will be going "fucking Seahawks, we should have signed so and so, or we shouldn't have let this guy go."

At least get your facts lined up before you try to assume my thoughts on something.

You called everyone a doormat. They weren't considered doormats by ANYONE at the beginning of the season, so, my point is that the season is early and that no one is who we thought they were (Dennis green). Sorry SS, I wasn't meaning to take out the anger on you, I am just so frustrated that no one can tell me WHY they are bad. So if you could please explain to me (with the ommission of their schedule)WHY the seahawks are bad.

That is how Seattle fans are with everything. But I can tell you right now, I will be there. And please, answer me this, how can people knock seattle for that when I can name several examples of Boston/New England Fans doing the SAME thing. It seems like that is a sports fan thing...not a Seattle thing.

Yes, they are wishy washy at times, but 3-1 are the Seahawks. They beat Tampa (3-1), Cincy (1-2), and San Francisco (2-1 before that game). The only loss was to Arizona (2-2). The reason why we lost is because they had one of the longest head starts to any NFL game. The Cardinals still almost lost the game if not for the fumble.

I can knock Seattle fans for that all I want. Do you know why?

I was a Bills fan when there were such superstars as Joe Dufek, an over the hill Vince Ferragamo, an over the hill Joe Ferguson at QB. When Greg Bell supplanted Joe Cribbs as the starting RB. Do you remember Byron Franklin, Preston Dennard, Julius Dawkins and Mitch Brookins? I do. Franklin caught 69 balls in 84 to lead the team. No other WR had more than 30. And who could forget Matt Kofler on that team, who played in all 16 games and completed '35.5 % of his throws.

The Bills have not won a title since the AFL days. The Cubs have not won a Series since 1908. The Leafs haven't hoisted Lord Stanley's chalice since 1967. Yet I am still here. My support for those teams has been unwavering through thick and thin.

THAT is why I can criticize fans of ANY city about being on a bandwagon. True loyalty knows no boundaries.

Where did I say they were bad...I said they were a see saw team. They play in spurts. There is a big difference. If I say a team is bad, I come right out and say that the team fucking sucks. I don't dance around and make it sound better than it is. Nate Burleson is not a proven #2. Alexander has been injury prone the last couple seasons. Maurice Morris is not a guy that can handle the load of 20-25 carries if something happens. Marcus Pollard is definitely on the wrong side of the hill as far as his career goes.

Then I appologize if I read into it too much.

As I said before I am just really tired of hearing the shit from the national "crap in my head" media. I agree that Morris can't carry it, but Burleson is a good #2 (He was in MIN) he just hasn't really had a chance in Seattle with the load of WR they have. Alexander is frustrating with the injuries. A guy who was never injured then signs a big contract then is always injured... So I will call this one. I am done, i didn't mean to attack you, I'm just really on edge today. I agree they are See-Saw, they have been for awhile, and I think it will be like that until Holmgren hangs it up. Nothign agaisnt him, he is just a little too conservative at times, causing problems.

Thanks for the spirited back and forth.

Burleson has had ONE good season in his career...04 when he caught 68 balls for 1006 yards and 9 scores.

His best numbers in any other season?

30 catches (2005), 455 yards (2003), 2 TD (03, 06, 07).

Those do not speak out as a good #2.

When he has someone to throw to him he will come around.

Keyshawn as a number 2 was 815 yards for 4 TDS last year.

Look, those nubmers he got other then o4 were 1) rookie season, 2)frist season in Seahawks system, 3) as a number 4. At the end of the season lets discuss it becaus ei truly believe he will do well.

In the Seahawks system though, D Jack was under 1000 as the #1, so it is all relative to the system, the players ahaed of them, the QB.

I think this will be Burleson's breakout year.
