The "Two First Name" All-Time Team 25 Man Roster
| 17
|
There hasn't been any "All-Time teams" lately, so I figured it's time I plop one out there...
The Roster Rules
Make a 25 man all-time baseball team out of players that have last names that are commonly used as first names in North American Society.
It must match exactly: Al Michael is eligible, Al Michaels is not. Robin Robert is eligible, Robin Roberts is not. See the difference?
Example - Lee May is eligible, Willie Mays is not.
Also, a last name like "Young" which is a common name in Chinese culture but not in North American culture is not eligible (bye, bye Cy and Delmon). A name like "Lee", popular in China and North America is eligible!
A last name like "Robinson" is acceptable (because I needed another 3rd baseman and I love Frank) - see: Robinson Crusoe!
Also eligible (because catcher was the hardest position to fill): "Carter" - as in Carter Braxton, who signed the Declaration of Independence.

Notes
Technically, it should be the "Last Name is a First Name" team since SO many of the players with first names for last names have nicknames for first names:
- Babe Ruth (George Herman Ruth)
- Arky Vaughn (Joseph Floyd Vaughn)
- Hack Wilson (Lewis Robert Wilson)
- Pete Alexander (Grover Cleveland Alexander)
- Billy Martin (Alfred Manuel Martin)
- Dizzy Dean (Jay Hanna Dean)
- Catfish Hunter (James Augustus Hunter)
- Connie Mack (born Cornelius Alexander McGillicuddy)
- Sparky Anderson (George Lee Anderson)
- J.D. Drew (David Jonathan Drew)
- Satchell Paige (born Leroy Page)
- Pee Wee Reese (Harold Henry Reese)
- Happy Chandler (Albert Benjamin Chandler)

Note: I COULD have made the team out of JUST Hall of Famers if I wanted to...
(but I'll take Dale Murphy over Lou Brock every time)
