That's a Head Scratcher

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed a 2 year deal with none other than................

TIM COUCH!!!!!

Seriously, why? You have 3 QB's that are somewhat good if they aren't injured, so why get Couch? I don't get it. The dude has proven that he can't live up to that great draft class of 1999. He was on the Browns team that made the playoffs a couple years back, but Kelly Holcomb was the one doing well, not him.

That is almost as dumb as the Raiders signing Jeff George, or the Tennessee Titans signing Kerry Collins. If Byron Leftwich gets hurt (which is certain), he may be the backup. The one thing with Leftwich, David Garrard, and Quinn Gray, is that they are mobile. Couch is immobile, injury prone, and inaccurate all the time.

I had to laugh when I say this. He'll probably end up sitting on the couch for most of his time in J'ville.

I think many Linebackers will be sitting on Couch all day as well.

Maybe the defense needs extra-work on the practice field sacking a QB. Who better than Couch to fulfill that role?

He must've been thinking it was better than signing with the Raiders.

The Jags must be retarded to sign him.

But Timmy was the #1 pick in the 1999 Draft. He is just a late bloomer...Honestly.

Umm.. Jags, 1998 called, and they're sick and tired of hearing about Tim Couch being the 1999 overall draft pick. So feel free to join us in the year of 2007 anytime.

He is not the Tim Couch of before. You need to keep an open mind on this one. He is throwing harder and more accurate now than in the previous 8 years, and 25 pounds heavier with only 5% body fat. Down from 13% before.

But is he mobile? Can he handle being under pressure? The throwing and accurate part is fine, but he needs to be tested.

Ok as a Jags fan, I seriously thought the White QB comment was funny. On a serious note WTF...lets bring Couch (Tim & Eric), Ryan Leaf, Heath Shuler, Jim George, Andre Ware, Drew Henson, Danny "Worthless" Wuerfful, and Chris Rix in to compete for a QB job. Why not have some fun with it as this seems to be a boneheaded move anyway. Unless there is some deal he made with the devil, then this may cause me to finally boycott my beloved Jaguars.

Eric Crouch was a secret weapon in Madden '03...I used to slip him in at QB occasionally or run a reverse with him...or just throw, he was sick...

listen it's clearly a case of being bamboozled. they thought they were getting new couches for the locker room not Tim Couch, I'm sure they'll clear this up quickly.

I can see Couch making a comeback and being a career 2nd or 3rd-string quarterback. But with the Jaguars? I'm having a hard time with this one.

Yes, not sure why the Jags would want to upset the balance they have at the position. All three have played well. Why bring in a possible distraction?

If the Jaguars adapt to the two quarterback system, (which they probably won't) look for them to be a problem in the AFC.

Couch would save them about $700k--not bad for someone who isn't likely to play.

Sign Slouch, er, Couch while Chris Weinke is still available? That's crazy talk. This is not what I wanted AT ALL. Can't somebody find Quincy Carter?

a) Gray is hurt

b) Leftwich isn't mobile and has an injury history

c) Garrard is an injury waiting to happen

These reasons suggest a 3rd stringer with upside is reasonable.

So the solution....get someone who is often injured as well.
