Thanks Matt Leinart. I thought you were something better.

For the past three years as a USC fan, I looked up to former USC quarterback Matt Leinart. I thought he was a great guy; I met him on two occasions, for about 30 seconds each time. Not a whole lot of time, but I felt that he was a sincere individual. Well, it appears that he doesn't have much class.

According to People Magazine, Matt Leinart is going to be a father, as his former girlfriend, Trojans basketball player Brynn Cameron, is expecting a baby boy in November.

What bothers me is that Cameron is excited about the baby. Hey, Matt has left you in the dust. She says that she doesn't want to get married and she'll just let Matt do his own thing.

By "thing" I bet we all know that is half of Arizona.

Thanks Matt, hundreds of kids will quickly learn about this. We all thought you were something special. Now, it just seems like you're a party boy, or like many other professional athletes: just classless.

Just because he got a girl pregnant does by no means constitute him as a bad person. He is a party boy, which is expected for someone his age. However, he has room for improvement, by acting more professional. There is nothing wrong with partying, as long as you're not photographed at 4am leaving paris hilton's house. Cameron is doing the right thing anyway, since he probably wouldn't be that supportive.

At 22? Hell yeah it is. At least on the coasts. In New York/LA people settle down 5-10 years later than people in the Midwest. (you're in Cleveland, right?) People have different priorites at different times, so I'd say the age of not being a partier anymore is drastically different in LA than Ohio.

Yes, there is something wrong with this! Sometimes people should rise above the norm. Partying and having sex, as an unmarried 20 year-old sets a poor example for today's youth. To many teens engage in premarital sex. They become pregnant, which can ruin their lives. Even more STD's can kill you. Yes, KILL YOU! Some have no cure. It doesn't seem like he's making any attempt to be the real father for this child. He needs to be supportive, and help this poor girl.

That 'poor girl' has a big fat payday in her uterus. Kanye playing in my head...18 years, 18 years... If you know better or have higher morals, good for you. Be a fine example. Don't get laid, be STD free and uptight all you want. It's not your job to thrust/inflict your morals on others. Especially grown men... did you know it's STILL legal to get married under age 16 years old in MANY states here in the US, and in SOME cultures, women are EXPECTED to bear children as young as 13? It's a big world outside of your head, dude... accept it. Live YOUR life, but accept that your rules don't apply to everyone. they'll deal with their own consequences, moralboy.

How do you know he's not making any attempt to help? No one said he wasn't going to see the kid or support the kid.

Lets face it, if you were growing up in So Cal, and you couldnt see through the Trojan Red to see that Leinert was a party boy? Come on, part of the reson he slipped so far in the draft was due to the fact that he had a party rep. Nick Lashey crashing on his couch in college, Victoria's Secret fashion shows, partying in NYC after the Heismen presentation, Paris Hilton. No one thought this kid was going to be a a role model. To go along with that, this just shows another reason why Charles Barkley was right, athletes should not be held up to be a role model just because they can throw or dunk a ball. I feel bad for the girl, but if she is secure in herself to take care and manager on her own, then power to her. Not all single parent situations are some terrible after school special.

wow, you thought he was a great guy based on two 30 second meetings, yet a terrible guy for doing something based on what you hear in the media? Did Matt tell you he wouldn't be supporting the child or mother? Or that she desperately wanted to get married, but Matt refused because he wants to "do his thing"? Or he secretly beats her? Get a clue!

No I didn't base my opinion on the 30 seconds, in which I met Matt. He did display some role model signs. He told the press, "I don't mind signing autographs for kids, because I remember being a kid and wanting an autograph from an athlete. I feel that its my responsibility to sign for them." He stayed for his seinor season because he valued the college experience, and he felt that the money could wait. Many people felt he was a good role model, not just me, because of these examples.

The reason he took one class, was because he had already studied hard enough to earn enough credits to almost graduate. Why do people constantly mock him for taking ballroom dancing. He took it because he only needed a few credits. Would you rather take Biochemistry.

I'll be here all week!

Seriously, get over it. It is supposedly like the 1980's already! Get with the times, homeslice! The kid will be fine. If anything, call him stupid if he doesn't get himself a paternity test to be sure and call him smart for NOT knocking up Paris Holeton! - ALL week!

She was his gf for however many years. Why is it surprising that they were sleeping together? Not using protection is another matter, but I think that spreads the blame (and responsibility) to the both of them.

Leinart's been classless for quite some time. Cameron gave an interview recently in a local paper (sorry forgot which one, but it was reported by Petros Papadakos on 570AM during a local LA broadcast.) Apparently he charades about how he's all about family, trying to find time for the family. According to Cameron, he has been spending his entire offseason partying in Arizona - he has barely spent any time with his kid. If that's true, he sincerely is a loser. There is no excuse for raising the kid, regardless of what happens between Matt and Cameron.

BigPPup's comment: "... Charles Barkley was right, athletes should not be held up to be a role model" was as wrong as Charles the Obtuse's original cop-out rationale for unacceptable behavior. Each individual should consider herself/himself as a positive role model. Simply because other dimwits consider themselves exempt from dull things like mores and law in now way excuses them from accountability.
