Born on August 19, 1906 in Comanche, Texas, Tex Carleton (James Otto Carleton) played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs and Brooklyn Dodgers over the course of his 8 year career. Carleton broke into the bigs on April 17, 1932 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 4.08 ERA in 196.1 innings pitched in 1932, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Tex Carleton's best season was 1933, when he posted a 3.38 ERA, won 17 games and struck out 147 batters.
