Terry Glenn
[edit] Biography
Terry Tyree Glenn is a wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys.
[edit] High School Years
Glenn attended Brookhaven High School in Columbus, Ohio and was a three-year letterman in football, basketball, and track, and a two-year letterman in tennis.
[edit] College career
He played college football at The Ohio State University. In 1995, Glenn was awarded the Fred Biletnikoff Award as the nation's top wide receiver. Despite his success on-field, it has been suggested that his trash-talk prior to Ohio State's annual game against Michigan in 1995 led to the upset of the #2 ranked Buckeyes. During that game, Glenn was effectively covered by future Heisman Trophy winner Charles Woodson.
[edit] NFL career
Glenn was drafted in the first round (seventh overall) of the 1996 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. Glenn Immediately made a big impact for New England, recording 90 receptions for 1,132 yards and 6 touchdowns in his rookie season, assisting his team to an NFL championship appearance in Super Bowl XXXI. At the time, his 90 receptions were the most ever in a single season by a rookie in NFL history. But even so, during his career with the Patriots, he was criticized by head coach Bill Parcells on a number of occasions. Parcells once referred to Glenn as "she". During the 2001 season, coach Bill Belichick benched him for the rest of the season due to off the field problems. Prior to the 2002 season, the Patriots traded Glenn to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for two fourth round draft picks. The following year, the Packers traded him to the Dallas Cowboys. He is now reunited at Dallas with his former coach Bill Parcells and former quarterback Drew Bledsoe.
Though Glenn is now in his 30's, he is still a speedy wide receiver with a knack for making the big play. Against the Kansas City Chiefs in 2005, he caught a touchdown pass on a flea flicker and rushed for a touchdown on an end-around, both trick plays. He and Keyshawn Johnson have both had their share of problems with coaches in their careers but appear to have mellowed with age and Bill Parcells. Glenn finished the 2005 season with 63 receptions for 1,136 yards and 7 touchdowns, the most receiving yards he had ever amassed in a single season since 1999.
On December 30th, 2005, Glenn was cited for public intoxication. He was found urinating in public behind a fast-food restaurant. Glenn was handcuffed but instead of being taken to jail, he was cited and released to his friend who was with him to take him home.
