[edit] Biography

Although it was the freshman class of wide receivers that garnered much of the attention last year for the productive and potent passing game, another important component may have been overshadowed. For the second straight year, Terrell Golden will enter the season as the most experienced wide receiver on the roster. He will be the veteran presence on the talented but youthful group of receivers. In addition to playing in every game last year and earning two starts, Golden brought critical leadership and experience to the position, helping the youthful unit get acclimated to Big Ten football. Golden brings good size and athleticism to the unit and likely will have the opportunity to log substantial playing time, especially when the Lions employ three and four-receiver sets. His 6-3 frame gives the quarterbacks a big target. The former prep All-American caught nine passes for 210 yards last year for a team-high 23.3 yards per catch. In his career, the swift and sure-handed Golden has an impressive 22.5 yards per catch average. He is one of eight returning Nittany Lions from Virginia and joins Levi Brown and Devin Fentress from the Tidewater Region.

[edit] 2005 Junior Season

Golden entered the season as the Lions’ most experienced receiver as a redshirt sophomore. Playing in every game with two starts, he caught nine passes for 210 yards, an average of 23.3 yards per catch, to lead the team. Golden caught a 47-yard touchdown pass against Central Michigan, helping the Lions accumulate 381 passing yards, second-highest in school annals. He had a big game at Michigan, hauling in a career-best three passes for 74 yards, including a 56-yard catch and run that set up a field goal. Golden also made two catches against Purdue and two grabs for 45 yards in the win over Wisconsin. He was on the field for 264 snaps, led by 39 against Minnesota.

[edit] 2004 Sophomore Season

Golden played in eight games and ended the year No. 2 at one of the wideout spots behind Mark Rubin. He made three receptions for 60 yards, highlighted by a superlative 37-yard touchdown catch against Purdue. Golden also made receptions against Akron and Iowa. He was on the field for 108 plays and earned his first career start at Indiana.

[edit] High School

Golden was a standout in football, basketball and track and field at Lake Taylor HS in the Tidewater Region of Virginia. During his career, Golden tallied 1,791 yards on 75 catches with 23 touchdowns, along with 19 carries for 187 yards and five scores and seven returns for two more touchdowns. Golden played linebacker and free safety on defense and recorded 200 tackles, 15 sacks and one interception in his career for Coach Hank Sawyer. Golden earned SuperPrep All-America and all-state honors as a senior, as well as All-Tidewater and all-region. He also was named all-district as a wide receiver, linebacker and punter. Golden also was first-team all-district on the hardwood as a junior and senior, as well as honorable-mention All-Tidewater. He finished second in the state in the long jump as a junior and was third in both the long jump and triple jump at the state championships as a senior.
