Ten Men Want To Know

The Referee stole the limelight from the Manchester United-Chelsea match at Old Trafford earlier today. Two dubious decisions saw United run out 2-0 winners at home.

About 35 minutes into the game John Obi Mikel was sent of on a lose ball foul on Patrice Evra. A yellow card was what was needed but the ref had no hesitation in sending him off. Later in the second half there was a rash challenge by Joe Cole on Cristiano Ronaldo which was a lot worse than Mikel's and all he got for it was a yellow card. The other talking point about the refereeing was the timing of the first goal. 2 minutes were to be added on for injury time in the first half, but Tevez's brilliant header, his first for United, came 3:32 seconds in to injury time. Saha's 89th minute penalty secured the win. Chelsea had gotten lucky early this season against Liverpool but not this time even though United played brilliantly and deserved to win. Chelsea are planning to appeal Mikel's red card. The refereeing this season however has not been upto the mark.

Either way a good result for United, one has to wonder if chelscum will finish in the top 4 now.

Chelsea's new coach, Avram Grant only got the job because he is a close friend of Roman's not on merit and for a club like Chelsea that spells doom. Expect a mass exodus from there.

The coaches association are questioning his credentials, so it might not be an issue and they may have to get someone else to do it.

He doesn't have the proper FIFA badges to manage a League side. He will be allowed to look after Chelsea for 12 weeks before they re-examine his credentials. This is certainly an interim appointment. Look for Roman's old friend Guus Hiddink to take over after/if Russia fail to qualify for the European cup.

Still, Chelsea seemed uninspired, they were dominated in the match. Now you have to wonder if that Stamford Bridge streak will stay this year.

re Mikel--a two footed challenge is always dangerous and worthy of a red card. The fact that in the Prem it is sometimes only gets a yellow, doesn't make Mikel any less guilty of a reckless, dangerous challenge. Joe COle should have gone too. With respect to injury time, the 3 minutes means at least 3 minutes, not exactly 3 minutes. Chelsea had commited a foul just before the goal which certainly took at least 30 seconds off the clock. United should not be penalised for Chelsea's dirty play. We'll see what happens when Chelsea lose 2 or 3 on the bounce. It will show Abramovic as the petulant twat that he is....getting rid of the best young manager in the World for an inexperienced yes man will see Chelsea finish outside of the top 6 full stop.

Roman needs to leave the club to football people, instead of kids.
