Tejada Injury Hurts O's More Than Just Off The Field

When Miguel Tejada went down last week with a broken wrist, he hurt his trade value for the Orioles.  The front office of the Orioles already have fired manager Sam Perlozzo, added Andy McPhail as president of operations, and tried to add Joe Girardi as the the replacement manager.  The only true chip that the front office had to deal away was Tejada for some hitting and pitching prospects before the trade deadline.  Now that is just a pipe dream.  Other than Brian Roberts, who should not be traded for any reason, Tejada could have went to the LA Angels among other teams.  Now it is very unlikely that the O's will be able to make any trade this year because of the lack of good players the O's have.

Girardi was not coming to Baltimore. He is set to replace Torre in New York after the season. Even if he is not in line for the New York job, he must know the O's is a horrible mess. Simply put, Tejeda's inkury had no bearing on Girardi's decision.

Joe Girardi is NOT replacing Joe Torre. Don Mattingly is.

Now Tejada can be rumored to be traded to the Angels next year and the streak can stay alive!

Well, of course it would appear to hurt his trade value, you never know what might happen at the deadline, remember that minus that injury Tejada's a consistent player.

Miguel Tejada is going nowhere. The Orioles don't need money. They need a lil more talent and better team chemistry, as well as a good manager who knows what he's doing. Why would the O's trade one of, if not THE, best players on the Orioles, unless you get two or more REALLY GOOD players who you know will do really well? Tejada is a good shortstop, he's consistent, good bat, good D. What more could you want?

The O's need a lot more talent in the field than what they have. Cory Patterson, Aubrey Huff, Jay Gibbons, and Jay Payton are not going to get it done. They are supporting players if not bench players with most other teams. The O's need to take this oppurtunity to rebuild their whole team...from the coachs to the players. Tejada isn't apart of that in my opinion. If the O's trade Tejada for high prospects to fill out some of the field, and get some young power hitters for the outfield this offseason, I think they could really turn the corner.
