Ted Grefe (Theodore Fred Grefe) was born on October 26, 1917 in Des Moines, Iowa. After going to high school at Roosevelt (Des Moines, IA), Grefe attended Northwestern University. Grefe made his professional debut in the NFL in 1945 with the Detroit Lions. He played for the Detroit Lions for his entire 1 year career.
