Teach Me About The B-List QBs in the 2007 NFL Draft

I know all I really need to about JaMarcus Russell and Brady Quinn.  But my situation is different.

I'm in a long-term dynasty fantasy football league.  Everyone is taken -- even Matt Cassell and Cleo Lemon.  Everyone, that is, except for the soon-to-be-NFLers about to be drafted.

I have the #5, 6, 7, and 9 picks in our upcoming draft.  The top 4 are almost certain to be JaMarcus, BQ, Calvin Johnson, and Adrian Peterson.   I have a pretty good idea of what other first-round talent is out there, but I'm not to keen on taking four WR/TE (I have Anquan Boldin, Steve Smith, Darrell Jackson, and good depth).  I guess Marshawn Lynch is a likely grab for me, but that leaves two to four open spots.

And I'd like a QB.

So, here's your chance to tell me -- and the rest of the world -- which QB prospects are going to be good.  I don't mind keeping them on my bench for a year or two, and I don't mind reaching to get a guy I want.   But you have to make me want him.

So much for your draft options, Dan. You notice only a half dozen or so players are getting any attention? That's because this is considered a below average draft, probably not more than three legitimate All-Pro's in the mix. Assuming you are in a keeper league, I'd package the #6 & #9 and make a trade. Only way to get a QB worth anything.

Look at Clemens, the Jets QB. HE had the Tom Brady Atitude entering his rookie camp, and you cn't expect Pennington to be the go to guy for that much longer. Another guy to consider is the guy out of Houston, I can't remember his name, but think that if you're lookin for a QB to take a chance on, he's a good idea. Finally, I'd consider Brooks Bollinger if The Vikings don't draft a QB in Rd 1. He could win the starting job, and it'd be a decent steal to get a starting QB.

FP, I think he's looking for QB prospects in this year's draft, not players who are already in the league...

Kevin Kolb was a 4-year starter with a 61.6% career comp % -- better than Brady Quinn or JaMarcus Russell (who was only a 2-year starter). He's got NFL size and arm strength, and surprising mobility. Scouts say his accuracy is a question mark, and Houston ran that spread that makes many a college QB look good, but of all the B-listers in this draft, Kolb is the guy I'd take a flier on.

Correction -- Russell's career comp% was 0.3% higher than Kolb's.

Right now it's between him and that guy from BYU, I think.

spread or not, I'd still take a chance on him as well. Houston was never a bad team under him. Never a good team, but never a bad team. Just an average team that went to a bowl game with a sponsorship people know about.
