Offensive Player of the Week:
Jeff Bailey, Pawtucket .375 (9-24), 6 R, 3 2B, 0 3B, 3 HR, 11 RBI, 6 BB, 5 SO, 0 SB, .875 SLG
It would probably more accurate to name Bailey the Player of the Weekend. On Saturday, the 27-year-old catcher went 2-for-4 with a home run, double and three RBIs as the PawSox trounced Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, 10-2. In the second game of Sunday's doubleheader, he homered twice and drove in a season-high five runs to power Pawtucket to a 7-3 victory. Bailey's 16 home runs rank third in the International League.
Pitcher of the Week:
Jordan Tata, Toledo 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 G, 1 GS, 7.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 11 SO
Tata turned in his best outing of the year on Friday, as he struck out a season-high 11 batters over seven scoreless innings to lead the Mud Hens to an easy 7-0 win over Indianapolis. The 24-year-old caught a break in the game's fourth inning, however -- Rich Thompson was thrown out at that plate attempting to stretch a leadoff triple into an inside-the-park home run.
