Tarzan Taylor (John L. Taylor) was born on January 10, 1895 in Superior, Wisconsin. After going to high school at Martins Ferry (OH), Taylor attended Ohio State University. Taylor made his professional debut in the APFA in 1921 with the Chicago Staleys. He played in the APFA for 1 year, playing for the Chicago Staleys the entire time. Taylor also played in the NFL for 1 year, playing for the Canton Bulldogs the entire time. Taylor also played in the AFLG for 1 year, playing for the Brooklyn Horsemen the entire time.
