Tank Johnson arrested in Gilbert on suspicion of DUI

June 22nd, 2007

Oh Tank. Welcome home. Thanks for bringing your arrests and DUI’s with you. We really appreciate that.

> Sgt. Andrew Duncan, Gilbert police spokesman, said a patrolman pulled him over at Gilbert Road and Park Avenue for speeding at 3:30 a.m.

> The officer believed Johnson was under the influence based on his observations, but Duncan would not provide details, citing Johnson’s right to a fair trial.

> The officer booked Johnson on suspicion of DUI to the slightest degree and drew a blood sample for testing before releasing him.

The NFL is not going to be happy about this. Tank - you are a moron.

A hell of a lot of people in Chicago supported and stood up for Tank Johnson. Today, he just let every single one of us down.

I am not one to defend dumb athletes but suspicion of drunk driving and a blood test is a very weak charge. Any one who has been pulled for a Dui can attest to that. He probably has like a .08 or .09 and lets be honest a man that size can handle that amount of alchol

Another brain surgeon. Maybe him and Pacman should get together and do an act together while on suspension. Maybe Dumb & Dumber - The Football Version. Coming to a police station near you....

It may be a case of an over-zealous cop, as a Bears fan I really hope that it is. I defended Tank on other message boards as a reasonably decent guy that just made dumb decisions, and as a guy who seemed genuinely contrite and wanted to change and was making the changes neccesary. The fact that loads of his team mates (the people who know him best) took the trouble to visit him in jail emphasised (to me at least) that he wasn't a bad person, just a foolish one.

That all changes if having been given the opportunity of a second chance by colleagues, coaches, the Bears front office and a lot of fans he chucks it away in order to have a few drinks and drive home. It is a slap in the face to everyone who gave him the benefit of the doubt before.

Why don't these guys get cabs?

I've had Cabbies that were drunker than .08 before. Maybe Tank felt more secure driving himself. Cabbies in AZ are high on crystal meth.

It may well be the case that every cab driver in AZ is stoned out of their tiny mind on all the prescription and non prescription drugs they can get their narcotic-addled hands on. However getting driven around by one wont get your suspension extended by Roger Goodell.

I'm getting sick and tired of athletes who continue to dig themselves in their own holes deeper and deeper every day. Neither of them are going to play the game of football again at this rate. Don't they think of their families and how utterly embarassing this is? Pacman Jones and Tank Johnson, two peas in an evergrowing pond.
