You want your team to have more national media coverage? You can take it.
Seriously.

If it were up to me, the only national reporter who would be allowed to talk about the Red Sox would be Peter Gammons. And maybe Bill Simmons, if he agrees to reduce his NBA articles by 27%.

I'm sick and tired of having to watch Sox games on ESPN or FOX. I'd just as rather they were all on NESN, where the commentators actually know something, anything, about the team. I don't like watching a game where they have to explain what a knuckleball is, or remind people that Boston did, indeed, win the World Series two years ago.

I don't need to see clips from the ALCS every time there's a Red Sox-Yankees game. I know it happened, I was actually, you know, watching them. I don't need a recap of the changes the new ownership has made to Fenway Park.

I'd be happy if there were never another article on ESPN about the Sox, and never another game on FOX or ESPN.

I don't like the Red Sox being covered by ignoramuses on national TV all the time; I bet a lot of Yankees fans feel the same way about their team. You should consider yourself lucky if Buster Olney doesn't talk about your team a lot, and if your games aren't on FOX. Really, you're much better off.

I do understand why it's done, but I don't like it.

Try actually reading both articles, and maybe at some point comprehension will find its way into your brain. I said that I *understood* why the national media focused on the Red Sox and Yankees, not that I *supported* it. Not really surprised that you would be unable to comprehend this distinction, though. Those are both pretty big words, after all. There is no contradiction at all.

Moreover, CPCP, the other article was directed towards the OPINION that the Yankees and Red Sox media bias was the result of some bizarre conspiracy, rather than simply the result of them being very good every year. I never "lashed out" at anyone. Nor did I ever say that "other teams" didn't deserve more media coverage. I made fun of the idea of covering bad teams instead of good teams.

Sports Guys BEST Sports stories are his NBA articles... mostly because, as good as they are, the Red Sox don't play basketball. Thank God the Celtics are impotent (even in the East).

That's who these 'ignoramuses' are announcing to. ESPN broadcasts nationally AND to other parts of the world, to people who actually do stuff with their lives to not know basic facts about Big Poppy or what Kevin Millar did this week. The world really doesn't revolve around you, Boston, or even the United States...the world revolves around $$$ ESPN is getting dollars from places that don't use dollars to see these "yankys and Red Socks"...it's called due diligence.

Since you seem to know the line between ignorant and not ignorant, why not turn the sound off and announce the game yourself at home...It's what I do every time Tim McCarver is on. Trust me, you'll save yourself AND us the headache.

Maybe I should pick sides of the Hatfield-McCoy rivalry and call myself smart!!!

Except that all of your arguments regarding that so far have been idiotic. If I was going to register multiple accounts, do you really think I'd focus on *your* comment score? I'd sit here all day and work on my own. Let me tell you, you are so far from the sphere of things that I care about, the mere energy it would take to type the names on those accounts would be more than I'd spend detracting you. More than ten times as many of you. Before you go accusing someone of something that makes no sense because you disagree with them, try actually being here long enough to understand how this site works, and that it's not the Holy Empire of Friskysman. People think differently than you, and comments get lots of + and - ratings. Again, I also have three times as many positive votes on comments as you do. Surprise, surprise. How do your edit or article numbers disagree with anything I've said? My point is, nearly 1000 times people have seen it fit to give you a - comment score and that must say something about you. Your edit and article numbers say nothing except that you have no life outside this site. I'm not sure how that's really a positive thing for you.

From now on in every argument I'm going to use a new tactic that I learned here tonight. Before, I used to use logic and facts to persuade people, engaging them in reasonable discussion, but I realized that doesn't work. From now on I'll win arguments like this:

Just say the same thing over and over, even if it's not relevant to the topic at hand

Ignore any actual facts brought into the discussion if they contradict what I say. Clearly any facts that disagree with me are worthless. Clearly any people who mention such facts are evil, evil little people.

Launch mean, childish personal attacks against people if they dare to disagree with me too much. Clearly they are misguided, amd must be punished. Their disagreement is tantamount to treason.

If I can't argue with what they said before, make up stuff that's easier to argue with.

Accuse my opponents of cheating.

Finally, if they accuse me of doing any of these things, accuse them of it as well, regardless of whether it makes any sense or not.

This is really the best way to have productive discussion on this site. I'm sure if we all do this from now on, we can have a close, caring community of sports fans that engages in rational discussion. I know I registered to have this kind of discussion.
