T.O. reportedly attempts suicide

As if T.O. wasn't a complex enough guy, there have been reports, including some from ESPN.com, that Owens attempted suicide last night, by trying to overdose on painkillers. This is definitely more serious than just an "adverse reaction" as it was being called late last night and earlier this morning.

We all know T.O. is a flamboyant, confident (if not cocky), outgoing guy. But I don't think anyone saw this side in him. Is he sick of the media constantly hounding him? Is this another attempt to get attention? I'm not sure, but whatever it is, I think no matter what your stance is on T.O., we're all praying for him to get better.

I wonder how the NFL will react:

• Owens violated the league drug policy
• Suicide is a crime -- he may have violated another policy there, too.

That would be rediculous if he was punished for this. If the reports are true, the man needs some serious help. Maybe even Bill Parcells could reach out and try and have some type of relationship w/ T.O., rather than considering him as "The Player".

That had occurred to me too DNL. But I suspect the league may not be too keen to risk a PR backlash by punishing a man who needs help more than discipline. We all knew it would be just a matter of time before Owens blew up again, but few people could have imagined it would have been anything like this.
