T.O. Is One Sleepy Man

Why did T.O. miss work on friday? Some say it was because he is a jerk; others say it is just T.O. being T.O. What does T.O. say? Quite simply, he overslept!

It's pronounced "ter-ell" not "terell"
It's pronounced "ter-ell" not "terell"

He says it'll probably happen again, even if he was fined $9,500.

"I think everybody has overslept, you know, once or twice in their life," Owens said Monday. While Owens' excuse sounds frustrating, it does hold water. I mean, we have all overslept some time in our lives, right?

"From my standpoint, it's all good," Owner Jerry Jones said. "Apart from him not being on the field and getting repetitions, has it in any way affected relationships on this team, teammates on this team, relationships between me and Bill, me and the coaching staff, Terrell and Bill, Terrell and the coaching staff? Zero impact there."

Jerry Jones is unbelievable. 20 missed practices has to be a record, or something! Owens more than likely lost the respect (if there was any, in the first place) of a majority of the players on the Cowboys, and Jerry Jones is trying to downplay the situation. Sometimes, we all need to man up and admit our mistakes. However, Jones has too much foolishness--no, not pride--to admit he is wrong, and will continue to cover for T.O. until his crazy little head explodes.

'Parcells said he's known since the day Owens signed that, as the coach, he'd have to deal with all sorts of additional headaches, legitimate or not. But he's not going to let "all those chatterboxes" change the way he runs his team.'

The problem that has been going on with T.O. is that people are willing to stick up for him. Whether it is his agent, Jerry Jones, or whomever, they are all willing to make an excuse for the former pro-bowler, and refuse to accept the fact that Owens is a problem. Terrell has never had to admit to a mistake before, because everyone is willing ot make an excuse (or an apology) for him! It wasn't until Andy Reid manned up and fought it out with him did the league realize that Owens is capable of destroying a franchise, at least temporarily.

So what will become of this ugly situation in Dallas? I don't even think Owens himself knows for sure. But this is for certain: They better call him "Ter-ell" or there will be some real problems.

I don't understand this. The regular season HASN'T started yet. The problem with most football fans, and no offense to you, is that they make WAY too much of things that happen before official week 1. Last year a Titans fan declared the Colts mediocre because they went 0-5 in the preseason and looked terrible.

The point is that the only way signing TO becomes a mistake is if he doesn't perform as expected in the regular season.

Not to mention he isn't missing practices cause of a stupid holdout or something (BTW there have been players who have missed all of training camp due to holdouts so it is not a record) but for injury.

Trust me, if he goes out and catches 10-12 TDs and gets the Cowboys into the playoffs, no one will remember this missed practice fiasco. This entire event is getting as much coverage as Kobe and the Duke lacrosse teams did during their rape trials, and again it is starting to annoy me.

Maybe he's sleepy because this story is SO TIRED. Go back to the Allen Iverson 'practice' rampage. That was a more interesting non-story than this one.

The difference between this story and any other story about a guy missing practice is that it's TO. He is a cancer, he wants to be in thenews all the time, he is a media whore... and what he does attracts extra attention and scrutiny bcause that's what he wants. Dallas invited this into their lockerroom. TO is making sure that this story and his name stays in the news. WHen it looked like for a moment people were not talking about him he had to show up dressed like Lance Armstrong so he could be sure all cameras were on him and not on his teammates actually playing.

yeah, what was the deal with the discovery shirt he was wearing? this is news because it is TO. the difference between to news and other player news, is that t.o. takes it to a whole different level. plus, half the things he says are probably lies anyway!

He makes sure that the media is covering his every move. Whenever he went 5 minutes last year without hearing his name, he pulled a stunt to get himself into the news. Whether it was working out in his driveway or the infamous "next question" press conference. Now he's doing that in Dallas, it's the not the media overcovering him, it's him feeding the media fresh things to report.

the thing is, manny, people are making excuses for him, thus he has never had to man up to anything. that was kind of the "morale of the story" if you will.

The media needs to have someone make stories for them... Barry Bonds, TO, etc...

come on, man... journalism isn't about creativity or writing talent. It's like everything else in the capitalistic world... $$$! and controversy sells.

The moral of the story is THERE IS NO STORY HERE! (hurry up and get here, REAL games!!! Arrrgggh!)

Who cares though? Who cares if he never mans up to anything? I'm not his friend or family member, and to tell the truth I don't give a damn what he does as long as he entertains me on Sundays.

I don't see why everyone takes his actions so personally when they are so far away from the situation. The same goes for all athletes really...
