Swilson3's Computer Rankings Week 6

12

by user Swilson3

The always disputed, highly argumentative, and crazy kooky computer poll is back. Ohio State (W over BGSU) and Florida (W over LSU) remain the top two teams. Tennessee (W over Georgia) claims the spot in the top ten that was vacated by Oregon (L to California) who fell to 29th.

Other notable moves include Aurburn (L to Akansas) falling from sixth to 15th, Missouri (W over Texas Tech) jumps to 11 from 22, and Boise State (W over Louisanna Tech) slides into 5th place up three spots from 8th.

Texas is still down at 16, even after spanking an awfully good Oklahoma team. That's brutal.

When you play the likes of North Texas, Rice, and Sam Houston State - you dig your own grave.

lol...you're going to deriede Texas' schedule when they've played the number one team in the country, and another top 25 team in Oklahoma that should have been undefeated going into the game? According to [Jeff Sagarin], Texas' strength of schedule is ranked 43rd in the country. Yet you have them way behind teams like Boise State. Who've they played? The likes of Wyoming, Louisiana Tech, Hawaii and Sacramento State. Sagarin has their schedule at 74th in the country. You have them behind Louisville, whose schedule Sagarin ranks at 97th. You have them behind Missouri and Rutgers, neither one of which even makes the top 120 in terms of strength of schedule. Their problem isn't the weak teams they've played, its your equation.

Sheesh ASwaff, don't have a cow man. My computer poll is not the only equation that has them ranked that low. According to www.tellshowbcs.com, Texas's aveage computer ranking is 13th. One poll has them 18th. There are two main reasons for this. One, Texas has had a bye already, meaning the likes of Boise State has one more game on Texas, and two because Texas played Sam Houston State, Rice, and North Texas. Their highest profile win came against Oklahoma who is currently 31st amoung computers. That's not all that impressive. My rankings are pretty close to the average for other polls. If you're guys would have beat Ohio State, you wouldn't have this problem.

Oh, well, if the prestigious tellshowbcs.com has them that low...

Look, I'm not faulting your equation for having Texas that low. I'm trying to figure out how on earth you have a school that has that record against a much tougher schedule so far behind the likes of Boise State, Louisville and Missouri. It's not where they are, it's who you have in front of them that I don't get.

By the way, yes...those computers have Texas at 13. That's higher than 16. That's also higher than Missouri and Rutgers, and they have Boise State at number nine, considerably lower than your number five. One computer has them as low as 18? Yeah, that's why they throw out the lowest and the highest when calculating the BCS rankings...because sometimes computers get stuff horribly wrong.

Speaking of getting it wrong, those same computers have Arkansas at number seven. Anyone else here think Arkansas is a number seven team?

LSU at #31... ouch... I'm hoping I don't have to look at Boise State at #5 for very long. Thats pathetic.
