Born on May 16, 1919 in Moline, Michigan, Stubby Overmire (Frank W. Overmire) played for the Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Browns and New York Yankees over the course of his 10 year career. Overmire broke into the bigs on April 25, 1943 with the Detroit Tigers, and put up a 3.18 ERA in 147 innings pitched in 1943, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Stubby Overmire's best season was 1944, when he posted a 3.07 ERA, won 11 games and struck out 57 batters.
