Stoppage Time

This is time added onto the end of a half in soccer to compensate for injuries, play stoppages, and substitutions that happen while the clock is continuously running. The amount of time is at the discretion of the head referee, who also has a say in when the game is finished.

For scorekeeping purposes, goals and card bookings that happen during stoppage time are usually noted as "45+" or "90+" (the 91st minute is the first minute of Extra Time).

This is also known as "Injury Time."

I don't know if this is a stupid question or not, but when injuries, play stoppages, and substitutions occur, why don't they just stop the clock at the time, like every other sport? Just asking.

Well, you know....the reason the clock isn't stopped is because there is not strike.
