Continuing the tour of the zodiac to see which astrological sign is represented by the best athletes.

It's a few days early, but I couldn't wait to get to Libra. Besides, Ramadan is right around the corner and I have something SPECIAL for y'all tomorrow!!!

Libra is my favorite sign (even though I am cusped with Scorpio and have a Leo moon), I even have a tattoo of the scales! Libra produces more top notch music, literature and acting talent than any other sign easily, by far! But we're here for Sports!!!

So far, we've toured Cancer, Leo, and Virgo. When we're all done, we'll take representatives from the signs and put them up against each other in a battle royale for Zodiac supremacy! Fun!

Libra: "the seventh sign of the zodiac, symbolized by scales (used for weight measurement). Astrologers consider people whose birthdays occur between September 23 and October 22 to be born under the sun sign of Libra. The planet Venus rules Libra. Libra is an air sign.

According to astrologers, Libras have diplomatic, refined, intelligent, thoughtful, warm, and social natures. Because of the sign's relationship with the planet Venus (named after the ancient Roman goddess of beauty and love), Libras tend to be romantic and crave relationships. Typical Libras, however, want an idealized meeting of the minds in an atmosphere of civility, refinement, and reasonableness. They do not place as much importance on deep emotional intimacy or physical passion. Libras also enjoy comfort and luxury.

Astrologers believe that Libras have strong senses of justice. They carefully weigh opposing sides of any issue and are keenly aware of other people's preferences. Although Libras like to take leadership roles, their need to be fair and to please everyone equally can sometimes make it difficult for them to make decisions. Typical Libras are skilled peacemakers and diplomats who desire balance and harmony in all situations and will do almost anything to avoid confrontations. Professions traditionally associated with Libra include the law, politics, the arts or design, mediation, diplomacy, and counseling."

Your job is to pick the Five that best represent the sign. Famous Sports Libras include:

"Mean" Joe Greene, Jim McKay, Marty Schottenheimer, Phil Rizzuto, Will Smith (played Ali), Craig "Ironhead" Heywood, Jack LaLanne, Steve Largent, Mike Schmidt, Gene Autry (former Angels Owner), Bryant Gumbel, Dick Schaap, Max Schmeling, Bum Phillips, Dominique Moceanu, Rod Carew, Mark McGwire, Joe Delaney, Barry Switzer, Dave Winfield, Tony Kubek, Susan Sarandon (Annie in Bull Durham), Dusty Rhodes, Maury Wills, Sam Huff, Bruno Sammartino, Ray Kroc (former Padres owner), Eddie Mathews, Laura Davies, Mario Lemieux, Chevy Chase (6'8" with the afro), Walter O'Malley (former Dodgers owner), Tony LaRussa, Scott Bakula (played a QB in a movie), John Wooden, Brett Favre, Dale Earnhardt Jr, Steve Young, Marion Jones, Jerry Rice, Jim Palmer, Usher (part owner of the Cavaliers), Penny Marshall (Clippers fan), Tim Robbins (Nuke LaLoushe), Evel Knievel, Don Coryell, Jerry Jones, Jerry Glanville, George Wendt (Da Bears!), Mike Ditka (Da Coach), Martina Navratilova, Evander Holyfield (best birthday ever), Mickey Mantle, Keith Hernandez, Snoop Dogg (likes sports alot), Juan Marichal, Whitey Ford, Curly Howard (uniform #1/8), Larry Fine (uniform #999), Drazen Petrovic and Brian Boitano.

Sure, I had to pad it a bit with a bunch of actors. I COULD have padded it even more, but it's a decent list. Pick your five to represent Libra!

Only a month to go 'til Scorpio...

Jerry Rice (since he rocked on Dancing with the Stars), Dave Winfield (for his Cleveland connection), Susan Sarandon (our generation's Anne Bancroft), Keith Hernandez (for his Seinfeld contributions), and Brian Boitano (Just to see what he would do)

I almost voted for Evil Knievel just because he's become such a sad character. He's currently on a really, really bad commercial for a roofing company in Columbus. It's depressing.

does he jump over a building?? I still remember when I was a little kid, everyone would be huddling around the TV to watch him attempt stunts. TV was dreadful in the 1970's... then again, so was pretty much everything else.

no, he just sits there holding a helmet and they show a clip of him falling and he says something like "Gee, that sure hurt, but you won't be hurting if you call the right people to take care of your roof" and he pronounces roof weird

Alex, it's SPECIAL because it's legitimate! An actual interview with a real, live, non-fictional, serious, not me, person whom you don't know, but you KNOW what he created and runs! Totally legitimate, no goofing, not clowning, etc.

I'm just pleased I spelt it correctly! But as someone with little historic knowledge of US Sport, he was really the only other name that stood out and I recognised. I would have looked at the player profiles to consider their stats, but I was at Number 5, and I would have lost 1-4 in my comment if I changed back. Copy & pasting, or creating another window were two obvious ways around that problem, neither of which I thought of at the time! Ah well, that's where I got Schottenheimer from.

Hey, it's your vote! I already had my say... You could have put "Manny Stiles" in there instead (unless you didn't get the transparently veiled reference to me liking Libras for some dramatically odd reason)

First, I'll go Marion Jones from the Venus and beauty perspective. Then I'll go Brett Favre, Jerry Rice, Jerry Jones, and Marty Schottenheimer from the intelligent, warm, leader, diplomat perspective. Also, Marion fills those as well. (Well, I'm not so sure about the "intelligent" part, since she just recently became broke)
