Steven Jyles
[edit] BiographyAcquired: Acquired from the Edmonton Eskimos for Fred Perry in February, 2008…originally signed free agent contract with Edmonton in 2006. 2006: (Edmonton) Jyles dressed at the team’s third-string quarterback for all 18 games. He saw action in three games, recording 6 completions in 11 attempts for 48 yards. He got his first CFL touchdown on October 21 in Montreal. College/Personal: Steven Jyles left ULM with his name next to every passing record in school history. Jyles was named the Sun Belt Conference’s Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year, while being selected to the first-team All-Sun Belt squad. Steven led the league in total offense and became the league’s all-time leading passer and total offense leader. Jyles was also named MVP of the Magnolia Gridiron All-Star Game. Jyles majored in Construction and won the Preston Juvenal Award as ULM’s outstanding freshman scholar-athlete. He attended Glen Oaks High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He and his wife, Ashley, were married in May 2006. Notable: His college coach was Charlie Weatherbie, who spent time in the CFL in 1978-1980 with Hamilton, Ottawa and Edmonton, where he was a back-up for Warren Moon.
