Steve Yerkes (Stephen Douglas Yerkes) was born on May 15, 1888 in Hatboro, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on September 29, 1909 for the Boston Red Sox. In 1911, his rookie year, he hit .279 with 1 home run and 57 RBI. Yerkes played for the Boston Red Sox, Pittsburgh Rebels and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 7 year career.

Most people believe that Steve Yerkes's best season was 1911, when he hit for a .279 average and knocked in 57 runs.
