Steve O'Neal (Steve O'Neal) was born on February 4, 1946 in Hearne, Texas. After going to high school at Hearne (TX), O'Neal attended Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University. O'Neal made his professional debut in the AFL in 1969 with the New York Jets. He played in the AFL for 1 year, playing for the New York Jets the entire time. O'Neal also played in the NFL for 4 years, playing for the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints over the course of his 4 year NFL career.

Most people believe that 1970 was Steve O'Neal's best year, as he had a 40.1 yard punt average.
