Born on March 20, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan, Steve McCatty (Steven Earl McCatty) played for the Oakland Athletics for his entire 9 year career. McCatty broke into the bigs on September 17, 1977 with the Oakland Athletics, and put up a 4.22 ERA in 185.2 innings pitched in 1979, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Steve McCatty's best season was 1981, when he posted a 2.33 ERA, won 14 games and struck out 91 batters.
