Steve Heckard (Robert Stephen Heckard) was born on April 12, 1943 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. After going to high school at R.J. Reynolds (Winston-Salem, NC), Heckard attended Davidson College and the University of Southern California. Heckard made his professional debut in the NFL in 1965 with the Los Angeles Rams. He played for the Los Angeles Rams for his entire 2 year career.

Most people believe that 1966 was Steve Heckard's best year.
