Born on January 13, 1954 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Steve Comer (Steven Michael Comer) played for the Texas Rangers, Philadelphia Phillies and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 7 year career. Comer broke into the bigs on April 15, 1978 with the Texas Rangers, and put up a 2.30 ERA in 117.1 innings pitched in 1978, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Steve Comer's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1979, when he posted a 3.68 ERA, won 17 games and struck out 86 batters. However, others believe that it was 1978, when he posted a 2.30 ERA, won 11 games and struck out 65 batters.
