Steve Carpenter (Steve Carpenter) was born on January 22, 1958 in Staunton, Illinois. After going to high school at Edwardsville (IL), Carpenter attended Western Illinois University. Carpenter made his professional debut in the NFL in 1980 with the New York Jets. He played for the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Jets over the course of his 2 year career.
