Steve Baack

Steve Baack (Steven William Baack) was born on November 16, 1960 in Ames, Iowa. After going to high school at Grant Union (John Day, OR), Baack attended the University of Oregon. Baack made his professional debut in the NFL in 1984 with the Detroit Lions as a third round draft choice. He played for the Detroit Lions for his entire 5 year career.
Most people believe that 1985 was Steve Baack's best year. He was mentioned in Sport's Illustrated in a 1986 issue that had a story about multi-position players in the league and why they were valued. Steve excelled in short yardage defense and was mentioned in the 1986 Lion's highlight film by coach Darryl Rogers as being the best short yardage player he had ever seen.
