Born on April 14, 1970 in Trenton, Michigan, Steve Avery (Steven Thomas Avery) played for the Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, Cincinnati Reds and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 11 year career. Avery broke into the bigs on June 13, 1990 with the Atlanta Braves, and put up a 5.64 ERA in 99 innings pitched in 1990, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Steve Avery's best season was 1993, when he posted a 2.94 ERA, won 18 games and struck out 125 batters.
