Did you need a full day to recover from the New Years Eve parting and festivities?
Well, the Stars sure did, as they got drilled by the Sharks.
San Jose scored all four of their goals in the first period and held only allowed one even strength and power play, doubling up the hosts 4-2 at American Airlines Center on Sunday Night.....
Leading the way for the Sharks was their All-Star Candidates:
Joe Thornton: 1 Goal, 2 Assists
Patrick Marleau: 1 Goal, 1 Assist
Jonathan Cheechoo: 1 Goal, 1 Assist
-Look for all three of these players to be in Dallas on the 24th of January....
Plus, the Stars allowed the Sharks to score twice on the power play, Allowing the Visitors to win the Special Teams Battle......
Also, with the Sharks losing 8-0 on Saturday Night to the Coyotes, the visitors looked to release some anger and frustration. After going up 4-1 in the first period, the visitors looked ready to pounce on the injury bugged Stars....
For the Stars, they will look to start 2007 on a good note, as they go on the road for a Western Canada Trip, as they first face the Canucks on Wednesday....
Notes:
Injury Catch Up To Stars:
During the recent stretch where the Stars have dealt with the Injury Bug, they have been able to deal with their problems, as other players have stepped up....(Zubov and Hagman netted the goals for the Stars on Sunday Night)
On Sunday Nights, San Jose turned their talented group against an Injury Plagued team and nearly embarrassed the Stars.....
San Jose vs. Dallas This Season:
With their win, the Sharks evened the season series with the Stars. For those that are looking for the Stars to break away from their recent playoff woes, look to this season series as a barometer.
Here's why: The Sharks and Stars have hovered around the 4th, 5th and 6th position in the Western Conference Standings.
Right now, San Jose is in 5th and Dallas is in 6th. If the Sharks and Stars end up 4th and 5th, they would meet up in the 1st round of the Playoffs.
