On Saturday Night at the American Airlines Center, the Dallas Stars defeated the Edmonton Oilers 3-2. With the win, the Stars established a two game winning streak before the Christmas Break.
The Stars scored the first three goals of the game from:
Jon Klemm scoring at 10:44 of the 1st period, which gave Klemm his first goal and point of the season. For Klemm, a converted defenseman who is playing forward due to the roster chaos due to the Injury Bug, he would play his best game of the year, scoring a goal and an assist, getting his first multi-point night for the Stars this season and his multi-point night in a long time.
Jere Lehtinen scored 6:02 of the second period, scoring his first goal in six games. Lehtinen scoring in Saturday's game gave the offense an shot in the arm, as the veteran forward has struggled, coming off a career high 33 goals in 2005-06.
Philippe Boucher scored 7:58 in the second period, adding to his team leading goal total of 12 goals. Boucher, who has come in from the blueline, has given the Stars offense a much needed boost, as the forwards continue to struggle to score goals. Combined with Klemm's Goal, Defenseman accounted for 2/3 of the offense on Saturday Night.
The Oilers attempted to come back with two power plays in the second period, but could only trim the Stars lead to one as Marty Turco stopped all nine Oilers Shots in the third period, ensuring the Stars would snap a three game losing streak at American Airlines Center on Saturday Night.
Notes:
Barnaby Nets 300 Assists:
With the secondary assist on Klemm's Goal, Matthew Barnaby recorded his 300th Career NHL Assist. Known the lead goon of the Stars, Barnaby has provided the ability to record points throughout his career, giving the forward another asset throughout his career.
Merry Christmas, Greener's World Readers!
