Stanford Samuels
[edit] BiographySamuels was a solid, scrappy cornerback throughout his career with the Florida State Seminoles. He was a teammate of Seattle Seahawks safety Michael Boulware and Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett at Florida State. He was rated by some pundits as the team's best cover corner and a great open-field tackler.He played in 47 games over four years with the Seminoles. 2004: Samuels attended training camp with the Indianapolis Colts of the NFL. 2005: Samuels joined to the Bombers just prior to training camp. It didn’t take him long to get up to speed on the Canadian game. He made his CFL debut as a nickel back in the Bombers’ season opener versus the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Taylor Field. He would go on to play 17 regular season games, missing the team’s season finale against the Calgary Stampeders due to injury. He started his first CFL game in Week 8 versus the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Samuels finished third on the team with 62 defensive tackles and second in fumble recoveries with two. He added two interceptions, a blocked punt, two special teams tackles and five pass knockdowns. 2006: Appeared in 12 games for the Bombers and recorded 28 defensive tackles, five pass knockdowns, three interceptions and one blocked punt. 2007: Signed as a free agent with the Edmonton Eskimos.Samuels was fourth on the Eskimos in defensive tackles with 51 and in pass knock downs with four.
