Stan Spence (Stanley Orville Spence) was born on March 20, 1915 in South Portsmouth, Kentucky. He made his Major League debut on June 8, 1940 for the Boston Red Sox. In 1941, his rookie year, he hit .232 with 2 home runs and 28 RBI. Spence played for the Boston Red Sox, Washington Senators and St. Louis Browns over the course of his 9 year career.

Most people believe that Stan Spence's best season was 1944, when he slugged 18 home runs, hit for a .316 average and knocked in 100 runs.
