[edit] Biography

Born on July 13, 1889 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, Stan Coveleski (Stanley Anthony Coveleski) played for the Philadelphia Athletics, Cleveland Indians, Washington Senators and New York Yankees over the course of his 14 year career. Coveleski broke into the bigs on September 10, 1912 with the Philadelphia Athletics, and put up a 3.41 ERA in 232 innings pitched in 1916, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Stan Coveleski's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1920, when he posted a 2.49 ERA, won 24 games and struck out 133 batters. However, others believe that it was 1917, when he posted a 1.81 ERA, won 19 games and struck out 133 batters.
