Born on August 6, 1966 in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, Stan Belinda (Stanley Peter Belinda) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Kansas City Royals, Boston Red Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Colorado Rockies and Atlanta Braves over the course of his 12 year career. Belinda broke into the bigs on September 8, 1989 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 3.55 ERA in 58.1 innings pitched in 1990, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Stan Belinda's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1992, when he posted a 3.15 ERA, notched 18 saves and struck out 57 batters. However, others believe that it was 1991, when he posted a 3.45 ERA, notched 16 saves and struck out 71 batters.
