St. Louis gets washed away, but gets the Win

Although the St. Louis Cardinals got the win last night against the Atlanta Braves with an 8-3 win, it wasn't easy sailing. As a matter of fact, it was more white water rafting. Brian McCann extended his homer streak to five games with a solo shot in the seventh. Chris Carpenter pitched 7 good innings, allowing only 2 runs on five hits. Jim Edmonds provided the much needed offense with his three-run homer in the third inning, Scott Rolen brought in two runs with a single in the fifth.
The interesting part of the game coming before the first pitch as huge storms ripped through the St. Louis area, taking Busch Stadium hostage and underwater. The storm pounded in with winds exceeding 80 mph. Three counties in the St. Louis metro area had tornado warnings and for anyone outside in the ballpark it was evident why. Five people were taken to the hospital after the storm hit the stadium; thirty people were injured all together. Here are some photos.
