I was on vacation when Barry Bonds hit numbers 755 and 756 so I did not get a propper chance to honor him with an appropriate post. Today I am making up for that by honoring his achievement by doing a post on the Biggest Jerks in Sports. While it's easy to take the obvious such as OJ, Ray Lewis, and Michael Vick. Those guys get lifetime achievement awards. I am looking beyond the felon category to more of a day in day out jerk. So here is my top 10 Sports Jerks:

10. Ryan Leaf
9. Randy Moss
8. Dennis Rodman
7. Latrell Spreewell
6. Jose Canseco
5. Kobe Bryant
4. Barry Bonds
3. Pacman Jones
2. Albert Belle
1. Bill Romanowski

I'm sure I am missing a bunch of good ones. These are top of mind.

When are sports stars going to realize that fans pay their salary? Brushing off fans is great way to move to the top of the jerks list. Heard Kirk Gibson was a jerk during his playing days but Bonds tops them all. They could name the jerk award after him. He treats fans, media and teammates like idiots. Blaming his own teammate for his use of amphetamines takes the cake.

They wont realize until we stop paying those salaries. But no matter how much of jerk Bonds is tens of thousands of people show up nightly to his games. Not much motivation to change there.

I'd say OJ, but The Sports Jerk Hall of Fame is named after him. Currently, I'd say Pacman Jones, Bruce Bowen and the Brothers Vick.

I whole heartedly have to support Romanowski as the biggest sports jerk and possibly the planets biggest jerk. I picture him beating baby kittens as a hobby.

I agree! What criteria was used to determine that Kobe is a bigger jerk than Ryan Leaf, Randy "straight cash, homey!" Moss, Dennis Rodman, Latrell Sprewell and Jose Canseco?

I guess the criterea for Kobe was a combination of running coaches out of town, his arrogance, his inability to make his teammates better by putting the team first, his rape accusation, and his demanding to be traded from LA because they are not competitive after he pushed Shaq off the team. That said, there are probably more deserving jerks than Kobe including some of the guys mentioned.
