Sports Is Injured!

It was all about the competition, and who can compete with who; winning the championship and what happens in sports is what fans were interested in. Making a turn is what sports has done, competition and who is the best is still in sports, but the biggest stories today aren't positive sports topics. With Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick getting involved in dogfighting which can end his career, Barry Bonds closing in on former Major League Baseball players Hank Aaron's home run record, and NBA commissioner David Stern dealing with gambling issues involving former NBA official Tim Donaghy. This news has been the face of sports, and it's going to continue through out the summer. Watching sports, and hearing nothing but Michael Vick, Tim Donaghy, and Barry Bonds has to be frustrating because some say they would like to move on from this. Sometimes it's hard being pounded with the same news, and it's not even about sports; hearing the drama that happens, and hearing athletes and others who are involved in sports being affiliated with illegal activities hurts sports and its image. It's aggrieved that sports is going through something like this, because this is not what sports is about.
Athletes or whoever gives a bad image to sports shouldn't be able to be involved. Because it's hurting and changing what sports is about. There's nothing but drama, and negative news that is coming out of sports; it's supposed to be about winning, and competing but it's about athletes going to jail, and this person using performance enhancing drugs. Sports has been given a new image; right now it should be about what Major League Baseball team is going to make a trade before the trade deadline, or what NFL team is going to make the biggest impact on the upcoming season, but it isn't. Michael Vick might be going to jail, Tim Donaghy's career is over because of gambling issues, and did Barry Bonds use performance enhancing drugs? This news has filled the sports world, and it's been the same for the longest.
The athletes are to blame, because they're giving sports a bad image. Michael Vick, Barry Bonds, Tennessee Titans corner back Adam Jones, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry, and others. They have been a problem to what we call entertainment, and they shouldn't be allowed to get away with this. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has done a good job with his athletes, and making them pay for what they have done is what he is doing. I know, Adam Jones hasn't been charged with anything but there have been people saying he has been involved in troubling activities. Hanging around the wrong people, and not being able to play the next season; this problems has been bad for sports. Some would blame the media, but they have nothing to do with this; the media isn't fighting dogs, taking steroids, and gambling they're just doing there job. The media reports news, and that is what there doing and the athletes are suppose to play and win, but sometimes they don't. Getting into trouble, and being involved in illegal activities is what some are guilty of.
It's distressed when kids look up to Michael Vick, Chris Henry, and Adam Jones; to see what they got themselves into is horrible. Children have to see what these athletes are involved in, and they get the wrong message. This has be to cleaned up, because children shouldn't be hearing about these negative activities; hearing about steroids, dogfighting, and gambling this should be something little kids shouldn't be watching. There's children that know right from wrong, but seeing people that they look up to be involved in immoral action is something they shouldn't enjoy hearing about. Sometimes it isn't good for children to look up to these athletes, because nobody knows if they're doing the right thing; I'm pretty sure everyone had a good image set in their mind about Michael Vick, but now that has changed because of what he was involved in. Nobody knows who is a good athlete, but not every athlete is involved in illegal activities.
It doesn't make any since to be involved in something illegal when an athlete is making a load of money. If I was making millions of dollars I'm going to make sure that I'm going to stay out of trouble so I can continue to make millions of dollars. When athletes become big in their profession they have to understand that they become role models to others, and some might not want to be role models but they are. Staying out of trouble, and making sure you're a good example for children to follow. This wouldn't just be good for young kids, but it will be good for themselves as well. Having a career like Michael Vick doesn't happen for everybody, so when an athlete becomes an icon they should make sure they do whatever is possible to continue to be successful in the future. It's possible that Michael Vick will never play football in the NFL ever again, and that is sad for a player of his stature. If Michael Vick used his brain he would have understand that making millions doesn't happen to everybody, and staying out of illegal troubles is something you have to do in order for that to continue. There's athletes that are good role model to children, and that is great because we need more of these type of athletes in sports today. Sports has taken a fall, because it's all about drama issue and not what happens in sports. It's been like this for the longest time, and making a change is something that needs to happen, but it all starts with the athletes. Etiquette has to change for these athletes, because it's getting out of hand. Hopefully sports will make a change, but it's not going to happen any time soon. There going to be more, and it might not ever change as well, but it's sad that it changed to this form.
