Special Shoe for Mets Ace

7
Vote

For the rest of his career, New York Mets ace Pedro Martinez will pitch wearing a special shoe to rehab his injured right toe. Nike will manufacture the shoe, which will also be worn when Pedro pitches for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic. The toe injury resulted from a bad pitching habit, involving an irregular movement with his right foot. Martinez claims the pain became insufferable during the 2004 season, requiring cortisone shots to make the pain more tolerable.

Not a good sign. I predict a piazza-like fall from grace to start this year.

Gut reaction: "No big deal." If I could have custom-made shoes, I'd take them too.
