Spades Wood

Born on January 13, 1909 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Spades Wood (Charles Asher Wood) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates for his entire 2 year career. Wood broke into the bigs on August 16, 1930 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 5.12 ERA in 58 innings pitched in 1930, his rookie year.
