Born on November 5, 1924 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Sonny Dixon (John Craig Dixon) played for the Washington Senators, Philadelphia Athletics, Kansas City Athletics and New York Yankees over the course of his 4 year career. Dixon broke into the bigs on April 20, 1953 with the Washington Senators, and put up a 3.75 ERA in 120 innings pitched in 1953, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Sonny Dixon's best season was 1954, when he posted a 4.47 ERA.
