Sol Butler (Solomon Butler) was born on July 26, 1897 in , OK. After going to high school at Hutchinson (KS) and Rock Island (IL), Butler attended the University of Dubuque. Butler made his professional debut in the NFL in 1923 with the Rock Island Independents. He played for the Hammond Pros and Rock Island Independents over the course of his 4 year career.
