So, Griese is your season savior. I'm sorry.

The day has come when Chicago Bears can finally rejoice their ascent to the NFL elite. They have benched their underachieving quarterback [ Rex Grossman ] and are now elevating their underachieving quarterback [ Brian Griese ] to the starting spot. This all, in hopes of resurrecting their offense to be merely a swan around their neck, and not an albatross.
> Coach Lovie Smith said Monday that he had made up his mind, and his decision leaked out all over the place Tuesday. It came as a surprise to no one that Brian Griese will take over for Rex Grossman with the hope that he can breathe life into one of the NFL's worst offenses.
This was an easy decision to make, two years ago, and even easier now that the quarterback is single-handedly costing them games. The defense is really good, even with the colossal losses, but even they can only do so much when they are put behind the 8 ball. Really, they're only human, and by the time the 4th quarter rolls around, the time of possession, short field, and other lovable circumstances (turnovers) do wear on that unit.
Griese can only make things better, by the Hammer of Thor, he can't possibly make them worse no matter how hard he tried. But, if Griese couldn't beat out Grossman for a second year running, should Lovie really be pinning playoff hopes to his jersey? Truth be told, Griese is an average quarterback at best, and there are reasons as to why he didn't pan out in other places. The same reasons why he didn't get a starting job when he came to Chicago. He is better than Orton though, but he certainly doesn't party as well.
This should be entertaining.
